Illuminated elegance.
LAMONT gilds bronze, marble and shagreen with pure gold and silver leaf. Thin sheets of pure gold are applied by hand. We do not coat our gold and silver surfaces unless asked to, finding that the quality of light and softness of texture is far superior when not covered. Precious metals patinate and darken if uncovered and the oxidation is appreciated as an improvement. Gilding is a meticulous process, some of the Hammered Bowls require hundreds of pieces, each layered by hand. Gilded Shagreen is the latest achievement from the R&D department, providing a lustrous new approach to tradition.
