The design and production workshops founded by Alexander Lamont ten years ago in Bangkok have been described as the living embodiment of the great Parisien ateliers. Perhaps nowhere else today are the skills of shagreen and parchment inlay, straw marquetry, bronze chasing and finishing, lacquering, mural painting and gilding still found under one roof.
LAMONT's objects, lighting and furniture are organic, elegant, sculptural, unexpected and always powerfully tactile. Alex Lamont's understanding of materials and craft methods goes hand in hand with the design work. His inspirations are the materials and processes themselves leavened by a pursuit of enduring forms.
The work can be seen at hotel projects including the Setai Miami, Aman Summer Palace, Capella Singapore, Wynn Casino Macau and Connaught Hotel London. In the United States he creates collections of accessory and furniture for showrooms including Baker and McGuire.
