Our skills in restoration developed as we handled more Japanese antiques. To restore a tansu in Japan costs two to three times the cost of the cabinet. We brought a highly experienced restorer from England to show us how to properly restore Japanese furniture. We observe every essential restoration practise, from cleaning the joinery to preparing surfaces for lacquering - amounting to more detail than modern Japanese restorers invest.
We are able to provide beautiful antique furniture for our customers at great value and also spend extensive periods in Japan - easily the most refined and crafts-appreciative culture on earth. This regular exposure to Japan feeds into our skill base and inspires our design.
